Fix a rejected template
Read Meta's reason, make the usual fix, and submit again.
When Meta rejects a template, the page shows "Meta rejected this" followed by the reason. Use that reason to decide what to change.
Find the reason
- Open Templates.
- Select the Rejected tab. You see your line's templates; admins see all.
- Open the template and read the reason at the top.
Usual fixes
- "The layout or wording isn't in a format Meta accepts". Check the rules: fill-ins numbered in order, none at the start or end, none side by side, enough fixed words around each.
- "Meta judged it promotional for this category". Reword the message to be less like an advert, or change the Category to Marketing.
- "The category doesn't match the content". Change the Category to the one that fits what the message does.
- "Meta flagged the content". Reword the message, and check the header and buttons for anything unusual.
- "Meta flagged it as a possible scam". Remove shortened links, and make clear who the message is from.
Edit and submit again
- Make the change in the editor. The Name in Meta is locked, so the template keeps its name.
- Select Submit to Meta. The portal checks the template again and shows a new approval score. Its reasons often point at the problem Meta found.
- If the score is high enough, select Submit to Meta in the window. If it is too low, select Edit template, use the fixes it suggests, and check again.
- After a few minutes, an admin selects Check Meta for updates on the Templates page to see the result.
Important: Meta allows one edit a day and ten a month for an approved template. Make your changes carefully before you submit.
If it keeps failing
Write a new template with a different wording instead of changing the old one again. The portal warns you if the message is an exact copy of another, because Meta rejects duplicates.
You can also ask the Help button at the bottom right of the portal. If it cannot help, see When to call the developer.
