The approval score

See how likely Meta is to approve a template before you send it, and what to do if the score is low.

Before a template goes to Meta, the portal shows a dial that says how likely Meta is to approve it. This guide explains how to read it.

Get a score

  1. Open the template and select Submit to Meta.
  2. The window Will Meta approve it? opens and says "Checking how likely Meta is to approve it…".
  3. The dial shows a score from 0 to 100%, with one of three notes: Likely to be approved, Might be rejected or Likely to be rejected. A mark on the dial shows the score you need, for example "80% needed".

The score comes from the rules the portal checks, plus a review of the wording against Meta's rules and the templates Meta has approved and rejected for your account. If the wording review is not available, the window says the score only reflects Meta's basic rules.

Read the reasons and fixes

Under the dial, the reasons come in groups:

  • Likely to be rejected because lists the serious problems.
  • Could cause trouble lists smaller problems.
  • Good to know lists notes.
  • How to improve it lists suggested fixes.

The score you need

The score needed is 80% unless an admin has changed it. See General settings.

  • Pastors can select Submit to Meta only when the score reaches the score needed. Below it, the button is off and the window says "Edit it using the reasons above, then check again."
  • Admins can also select Submit anyway. A warning appears first, because Meta may reject the template and repeated rejections can restrict the church's WhatsApp account. Select Submit anyway again to confirm, or Cancel.

When the wording reads as another category

If the portal thinks the message fits the other category, the window says, for example, "This reads as Marketing". Select Switch to Marketing and check again. One click changes the Category and scores the template again. See Rules that keep templates from being rejected.

Check again after a change

Select Edit template to go back to the editor and make changes. Any change after a check needs a new check. If you change the template and try to send an old check, the portal says "The template changed since it was checked. Check it again." Select Submit to Meta again to get a new score.

Tip: Fix the "Likely to be rejected because" items first. They move the score most.

If Meta still rejects a template, see Fix a rejected template.
