Put the portal on your home screen

You don't need to download anything from an app store. Your phone's browser can put ABMTC Pastoral Assistant on your home screen. It then opens from its own icon, full screen, like any other app.

Sign in first, then follow the steps for your phone.

Android phones (Chrome)

1. Open the portal in Chrome.
2. Tap the menu (the three dots at the top right).
3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app. The wording depends on your phone.
4. If a name box appears, you can change the name under the icon, for example to "Pastoral Assistant".
5. Tap Install or Add to confirm.

The icon appears on your home screen and in your list of apps.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

1. Open the portal in Safari. Other browsers on an iPhone can't add it.
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. You can change the name under the icon here. Tap the name and type a shorter one if you like.
5. Tap Add at the top right.

Important: On an iPhone or iPad, notifications only work when you open the portal from the home screen icon. Add it first, open it from the icon, then turn notifications on. See Push notifications.

Computers (Chrome or Edge)

1. Open the portal in Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
2. Look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar (a small screen with a down arrow), or open the browser's menu.
3. Choose Install (in Edge, Apps, then Install this site as an app).

The portal then opens in its own window, and you can pin it to the taskbar or dock.

Using it

• Open the portal from its icon from now on. You stay signed in.
• It updates by itself, so there is nothing to update.
• To rename it later, remove it and add it again with the name you want.
• To remove it, press and hold the icon and choose Remove or Uninstall, as you would for any app.
